Established in 1935, the National Labor Relations Board is an independent federal agency that protects employees, employers, and unions from unfair labor practices and protects the right of private sector employees to join together, with or without a union, to improve wages, benefits and working conditions. The NLRB conducts hundreds of workplace elections and investigates thousands of unfair labor practice charges each year. Region 12 serves areas in Florida, Georgia, Puerto Rico, and U.S. Virgin Islands from its Regional Office in Tampa, its Subregional Office in San Juan, and its Resident Office in Miami.
Outreach in San Juan
Officer-in-Charge Luis Padilla and Regional Director Margaret Diaz will be speaking about the new representation case rules on April 13, 2015, at the Subregion 24 office in San Juan. Outreach in Miami
Regional Director Margaret Diaz will be speaking about the new representation case rules at a meeting sponsored by the Practice and Procedure Committee of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the ABA. The meeting will be held on April 9, 2015, in Miami.
Shelley B. Plass Named Miami Resident Officer
Richard F. Griffin, Jr., General Counsel of the National Labor Relations Board, has announced the appointment of Shelley B. Plass as Resident Officer of the Agency’s Miami Resident Office, which reports to the Tampa, Florida Regional Office (Region 12). In her new position, Ms. Plass will assist Regional Director Margaret J. Diaz in enforcing the National Labor Relations Act in the southern Florida area.
Ratification of Regional Director Actions
Following the Board’s authorization, Regional Director Margaret Diaz ratified all of her actions from the date of her initial appointment to July 18, 2014. These ratifications include all personnel and administrative decisions, all actions in representation case matters, and all actions in unfair labor practice cases.
