Sprain Brook Manor Rehab Takes Steps to Comply with Federal Court Order
Sprain Brook Manor Rehab LLC (Sprain Brook) has taken action to reinstate two discharged employees and to rescind subcontracts, following a federal court injunction order. Judge Richard J. Sullivan, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, issued a temporary injunction on March 9th in Fernbach v. Sprain Brook Manor Rehab, LLC.

Nicholas H. Lewis Named Assistant to the Regional Director in NLRB's New York Regional Office (Region 2)
Richard F. Griffin, Jr., General Counsel of the National Labor Relations Board, announced the appointment of Nicholas H. Lewis as the Assistant to the Regional Director of the NLRB’s Regional Office in for Region 2, New York, NY.
In his new position, Mr. Lewis will assist Regional Director Karen Fernbach in the administration and enforcement of the National Labor Relations Act in Manhattan, the Bronx and several counties North of New York City. Mr. Lewis succeeds Elbert Tellem, who recently retired.
Twelve laid off employees at Biondi Schools in the Bronx and in Yonkers to receive backpay and offers of reinstatement
Twelve employees at the Biondi Elementary School in the Bronx, NY and at the Biondi Middle and High School in Yonkers, NY, who were laid off during bargaining for an initial collective-bargaining agreement, have received backpay and immediate offers of reinstatement as part of a settlement agreement reached on April 14, 2014.

Board grants review, invites briefs on question of graduate student assistant status in two cases
The National Labor Relations Board has granted review in two cases that ask whether graduate student assistants seeking to be represented by a union are employees covered by the National Labor Relations Act.
David Leach appointed Regional Attorney in New York
National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) Acting General Counsel Lafe Solomon announced the appointment of career attorney David E. Leach as Regional Attorney of the NLRB’s Regional Office in New York, NY (Region 2). In his new position, Mr. Leach will assist Regional Director Karen P. Fernbach in the processing of representation and unfair labor practice cases filed under the National Labor Relations Act in Manhattan, The Bronx, and several counties north of New York City.
