Office Information

Regional Director

Welcome to Region 32 of the National Labor Relations Board. We conduct elections, investigate charges of unfair labor practices, and protect the rights of workers to act together, serving parts of California and Nevada from our regional office in Oakland. If you have questions or wish to file a charge or petition for election, please visit our office or call and ask for the Information Officer on duty. We can arrange to have someone speak with you in the language of your choice. We are also happy to provide speakers and materials to promote a greater understanding of the National Labor Relations Act.

News From the Region

The National Labor Relations Board has ruled that, in considering whether an employer is obligated to provide witness statements to a union representing an employee concerning discipline, the Board must balance the confidentiality interests of the employer against the union’s need for the information.

National Labor Relations Board Acting General Counsel Lafe Solomon today announced the appointment of Jeffrey Henze as Deputy Regional Attorney of the NLRB’s Regional Office in Oakland, California (Region 32).  Mr. Henze had been a Supervisory Attorney in the Oakland Region prior to his appointment.  In his new position, he will assist Regional Director William Baudler in the administration and enforcement of the National Labor Relations Act in portions of northern and central California and northern Nevada.

The National Labor Relations Board has issued an order that will lead to a re-run of an election held in the fall of 2010 among about 43,000 employees of Kaiser Permanente in California. The employees voted on whether to remain represented by their current union or to select a different union or no representation. View the order here.

A U.S. District Court judge has ordered an Oakland nursing home to offer reinstatement to 26 employees who were replaced during a week-long strike, and to stop enforcing its no-access rule in a way that discriminates against union activity, at the request of the National Labor Relations Board.
