Office Information

Regional Director

Welcome to Region 31 of the National Labor Relations Board. We conduct elections, investigate charges of unfair labor practices, and protect the rights of workers to act together, serving parts of California from our office in west Los Angeles. If you have questions or wish to file a charge or petition for election, please visit our office or call and ask for the Information Officer on duty. We can arrange to have someone speak with you in the language of your choice. We are also happy to provide speakers and materials to promote a greater understanding of the National Labor Relations Act.

News From the Region

Effective March 8, 2013, Region 31 is moving. Our new address is 11500 West Olympic Blvd., Suite 600, Los Angeles, CA 90064. All phone and FAX numbers remain the same. We look forward to welcoming you to our new location in the near future.

The National Labor Relations Board has found that the Hotel Bel-Air violated federal labor law by offering severance packages in exchange for a waiver of recall rights to laid-off employeeswithout bargaining to impasse with the union representing its workers. The hotel, on the west side of Los Angeles, laid off about 250 union workers when it temporarily closed in 2009 for renovations.

Because of continuing violations of federal labor law, the NLRB has issued a broad cease-and-desist order against the publisher of the Santa Barbara News-Press and ordered it to bargain in good faith with the union representing its employees. The Board also extended the union’s certification period by one year and ordered Ampersand Publishing, LLC, to reimburse the union for past bargaining expenses.

National Labor Relations Board Acting General Counsel Lafe Solomon has selected career employee Brian Gee as Regional Attorney of the Agency’s office (Region 31) in Los Angeles, California.  Mr. Gee will assist Regional Director Mori Pam Rubin in the processing of representation and unfair labor practice cases filed under the National Labor Relations Act in portions of Los Angeles county and six other counties in southern California.

A federal judge has ordered American Reclamation, Inc., a Los Angeles trash hauling and recycling service, to stop violating federal labor laws by threatening employees with dismissal for supporting a union, among other things, and to offer interim reinstatement to three employees who were fired.
