Hartford, CT – Subregion 34 of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) completed a manual election today involving employees at Dollar General choosing whether they wished to be represented by the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 371. After counting the ballots, the result of the election was two votes for the Petitioner (the union) and three votes against the Petitioner with two challenged ballots. The Tally of Ballots shows the following uncertified results:

Total number of eligible voters

7

Number of void ballots

0

Number of votes cast for the Petitioner, UFCW Local 371

2

Number of votes cast against participating labor organization

3

Number of undetermined challenged ballots

2

Number of valid votes counted

5

Number of valid votes counted plus challenged ballots

7

Challenges are sufficient in number to affect the results of the election. The parties have five business days to file their positions on whether or not either challenged ballot should be counted.

The ballot count was conducted by an NLRB Subregion 34 employee at the employer’s location in Barkhamsted, Connecticut. The results of this count will not be certified until the eligibility of the two challenged ballots is resolved and pending any objections to the election that either party may decide to pursue.

Established in 1935, the National Labor Relations Board is an independent federal agency that protects employees, employers, and unions from unfair labor practices and protects the right of private sector employees to join together, with or without a union, to improve wages, benefits and working conditions. The NLRB conducts hundreds of workplace elections and investigates thousands of unfair labor practice charges each year. Region 1 serves areas in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont from its Regional Office in Boston and Subregional Office in Hartford.
