The National Labor Relations Board today announced the appointment of Ruth Blevins as the Agency’s Inspector General. In her role, Ms. Blevins will be responsible for independently and objectively conducting and supervising audits and investigations, promoting economy, efficiency, and effectiveness in NLRB operations, and preventing and detecting fraud and abuse at the agency.

“The Board is pleased to welcome Ruth Blevins as the agency’s new Inspector General,” said Chairman Lauren McFerran. “She is a proven leader with extensive expertise in auditing and will be a tremendous asset to the NLRB.”

“We are thrilled that Ms. Blevins has joined the Agency. Her expansive knowledge and experience will undoubtedly assist us in effectively and efficiently advancing our critical mission of protecting workers’ rights in this country,” said General Counsel Jennifer Abruzzo.

Previously, Ms. Blevins served as an audit Director for the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Inspector General. She has also held various Office of Inspector General positions at the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Department of Transportation, and the United States International Trade Commission. Prior to that, she was a Commissioned Bank Examiner with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and worked in public accounting. She holds a bachelor's degree in accounting and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Established in 1935, the National Labor Relations Board is an independent federal agency that protects employees from unfair labor practices and protects the right of private sector employees to join together, with or without a union, to improve wages, benefits and working conditions. The NLRB conducts hundreds of workplace elections and investigates thousands of unfair labor practice charges each year.
