Kenneth W. Chu

Judge

Judge Chu was appointed in July of 2012. He previously served as the Chief Administrative Judge with the EEOC for over 25 years, including a detail as the acting EEOC New York District Deputy Director.  While at the EEOC, he was instrumental in drafting regulatory revisions to the federal sector complaints adjudication process. After almost 30 years with the EEOC, he was selected to an ALJ position with the SSA.  He was subsequently appointed as the Chief ALJ with the SSA Brooklyn Hearing Office before coming to the NLRB.  He began his legal career as an attorney and program director for the Asian American Legal Defense Fund.  He is a graduate of the City College of New York and received his JD degree from Brooklyn Law School.   He has previously served as co-chair of the NYS Bar Association Labor and Employment Law Section. He is an avid runner and has completed numerous races including several marathons.  He is the first Asian-American judge in the Board’s history.
