Contacting Region 15 Staff during Phone System Transition

Region 15 is currently undergoing a transition of our phone system. If you are having difficulty reaching an individual board agent, please try the Region’s main line at
(504) 589-6362, the Memphis Subregional Office at (901) 544-0019, or the Little Rock Resident Office at (501) 324-6311.

Welcome to Region 15 of the National Labor Relations Board. We conduct elections, investigate charges of unfair labor practices, and protect the rights of workers to act together, serving the states of Louisiana, Arkansas and Alabama, as well as southern Mississippi, western Tennessee, western Florida, and four counties in Missouri from our office in New Orleans. If you have questions or wish to file a charge or petition for election, please visit our office or call and ask for the Information Officer on duty. We can arrange to have someone speak with you in the language of your choice. We are also happy to provide speakers and materials to promote a greater understanding of the National Labor Relations Act.

This Regional Office participates in the NLRB’s Volunteer Field Examiners Program for undergraduate and graduate students.  The Volunteer FX interns assist in conducting unfair labor practice investigations, arranging representation elections, conducting elections and performing basic legal research. Volunteer Interns will work directly with agents and report to a supervisor who will guide them in handling case work and investigations. Interns may be briefed by senior officials from throughout the Region and Agency about the NLRB and the NLRA. Interns will be asked to produce written work products summarizing the results of investigations along with recommendations.  The Agency will work closely with participating schools to ensure class credit where permitted or desired and will provide on-the-job training as well as training on the NLRB through live and video presentations of the Agency’s Summer Intern Program and regularly scheduled Board Agent training.  Please click on the following link: Student Positions - Pathways and volunteer for more information.

News From the Region

The NLRB Office of General Counsel today announced that, based on specific commitments made by the United Food and Commercial Workers union, it is not necessary to decide the merits of an unfair labor practice charge filed by Wal-Mart against the UFCW.

A National Labor Relations Board Administrative Law Judge has found that a Louisiana salt mining operation committed numerous unfair labor practices in dealing with its union employees, including making unlawful threats of termination, persistently refusing to bargain in good faith, and unlawfully implementing new working conditions without bargaining.

A federal judge this week ordered Ozburn-Hessey Logistics, LLC, (OHL) to reinstate three warehouse workers who were fired during a union organizing campaign, and to stop other behavior that interfered with their employees’ rights, pending the final resolution of a case before the National Labor Relations Board.

Judge Samuel H. Mays, Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee issued the temporary injunction on April 5 at the request of the NLRB, stating that “it is necessary to return the parties to the status quo to protect the NLRB’s remedial powers.”
