Portland, OR—Region 19 of the National Labor Relations Board completed a ballot count on January 6, 2022 in a union election involving employees at Image Comics choosing whether or not to be represented by Comic Book Workers United, affiliated with the Communication Workers of America. The ballot count was conducted by an NLRB employee at Region 19’s Subregional Office in Portland, Oregon. The resultant Tally of Ballot shows the following results:

Approximate number of eligible voters

9

Number of void ballots

0

Number of votes cast for the Petitioner, Comic Book Workers United

7

Number of votes cast against participating labor organization

2

Number of valid votes counted

9

Challenges are not sufficient in number to affect the results of the election. A majority of the valid votes counted plus challenged ballots has been cast for the Petitioner, Comic Book Workers United.

The results of this count will not be certified until the Region processes any objections that might be filed by the parties contesting the election. Any objections to the election are due within five business days after the preparation of the tally, which is January 13, 2022.

Established in 1935, the National Labor Relations Board is an independent federal agency that protects employees, employers, and unions from unfair labor practices and protects the right of private sector employees to join together, with or without a union, to improve wages, benefits and working conditions. The NLRB conducts hundreds of workplace elections and investigates thousands of unfair labor practice charges each year. Region 19 serves areas in Alaska, Montana, Oregon, and Washington from its Regional Office in Seattle and Subregional Office in Portland.
