Washington D.C. – National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) Chairman John F. Ring and General Counsel Peter Robb announced Sean Marshall as the new Regional Director for the Agency’s Region 5 Office in Baltimore, Maryland. Region 5 is responsible for conducting elections, investigating unfair labor practice charges, and protecting the right of workers to act collectively to improve their wages and working conditions in serving Maryland, the District of Columbia and parts of Delaware, Virginia, West Virginia and Pennsylvania.

A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Mr. Marshall received his B.A. with honors in English and History from the College of William and Mary in 1999. He received his J.D. with honors from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 2002. After working as an associate with the law firm of Crowell & Moring, LLP, Mr. Marshall began his career with the Agency as a Staff Counsel to Board Member Peter Schaumber in 2004. After transferring to the Baltimore Regional Office in 2008, he was promoted to Supervisory Attorney in 2013, and to his prior position as Regional Attorney in 2016. He also served as Acting Director of the Region from October 2017 through June 2018.

Established in 1935, the National Labor Relations Board is an independent federal agency that protects employees and employers, and unions from unfair labor practices and protects the right of private sector employees to join together, with or without a union, to improve wages, benefits and working conditions. The NLRB conducts hundreds of workplace elections and investigates thousands of unfair labor practice charges each year.
