NLRB Restructuring Field Organization in Region 19 (Anchorage, AK)

The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) has determined to permanently close its Anchorage, Alaska Resident Office (Region 19) due to the Agency's ongoing efforts to reduce costs by decreasing office space and by taking advantage of new technologies and workplace innovations, which enable employees to work remotely. The Anchorage office will close effective December 29, 2017.
The Anchorage office handles all cases in Alaska. The realignment will be executed without employee job loss or a break in coverage. Specifically, the sole agent working out of the Anchorage office will continue to service the area as Resident Agent in a full-time capacity.
The Agency currently has Resident Agents in Providence, Rhode Island; Knoxville, Tennessee; Salt Lake City, Utah; Newport News, Virginia; Western Massachusetts; Spokane, Washington; and Jacksonville, Florida.
Established in 1935, the National Labor Relations Board is an independent federal agency that protects employers and employees from unfair labor practices, and protects the rights of private sector employees to join together, with or without a union, to improve wages, benefits and working conditions. The NLRB conducts hundreds of workplace elections and investigates thousands of unfair labor practice charges each year.
