For 250 years, workers across our Country have shaped our Nation through their skill, determination, and resilience. They built our infrastructure, drove innovation, strengthened our economy, and supported their families and communities—helping make America the greatest Nation in the world.

As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of American independence, the National Labor Relations Board proudly honors the generations of workers whose hard work and ingenuity have collectively contributed to our Nation’s strength and prosperity.

Congress entrusted the NLRB with an important mission: to protect the rights guaranteed to workers under the National Labor Relations Act and to fairly and impartially administer the law. We are making meaningful progress in that mission by reducing the Agency’s case backlog, improving the timeliness of our processes, and delivering real results for workers across America.

This Labor Day, we honor America’s workers and renew our commitment to protecting their rights, upholding the rule of law, and faithfully carrying out the mission entrusted to us by Congress.

Happy Labor Day from the National Labor Relations Board.

Established in 1935, the National Labor Relations Board is an independent federal agency that protects employees from unfair labor practices and protects the right of private sector employees to join together, with or without a union, to improve wages, benefits and working conditions. The NLRB conducts hundreds of workplace elections and investigates thousands of unfair labor practice charges each year.
