Unit Description: Current Recognition Clause RECOGNITION The Union is recognized as the sole representative of all full-time and regularly-scheduled part-time registered professional general duty nurses employed in the Medical Center. The term "general dutv nurse applies to registered professional nurses employed to give bedside nursing care to patients, to scrub or circulate in the operating room and delivery room, and to work directly with patients during examinations or treatments in the outpatient department and clinic settings and who perform similar functions. The general duty nurse position may include charge nurse hours. The charqe nurse is designated as charge of a unit to include directing other staff as related to the RN professional practice of providing patient care. A Temporary nurse is a "Traveling", "Agency or "Seasonal" nurse that may be employed on a Full or Part Time basis, but with the understanding that their employment is for a fixed term or assignment. Temporary nurses are not included in the bargaining unit. Bargaining unit staff will not work in non-bargaining unitpositions and non- bargaining unit staff will not work in bargaining unit positions except in the case of unusual, unpredictable or unforeseen temporary circumstances which may impact continuity of care. Management will not challenge the supervisory or managerial status of any bargaining unit member during the term of this agreement and until a successor agreement is negotiated.
