The NLRB reopened from shutdown status on November 13, 2025. Due dates to file or serve most documents were tolled during the period of the shutdown, although due dates cannot be tolled for filing and service of unfair labor practice charges, applications for awards of fees and other expenses under the Equal Access to Justice Act, and certain representation petitions. For documents where tolling applies, the terms are that for each day on which the Agency’s offices were closed for all or any portion of the day, one day is added to the time for filing or service of the document. If the new due date falls on a weekend or holiday, the new due date will be moved to the next business day. For example, if the original due date was October 7, 2025 and the shutdown lasted 43 days, the revised due date is November 19, 2025. See chart for revised due dates.

The National Labor Relations Board’s Student Ambassador Program

The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) is an independent federal agency created in 1935 and vested with the power to safeguard employees’ rights to organize, engage with one another to seek better working conditions, choose whether or not to have a collective bargaining representative negotiate on their behalf with their employer, or refrain from doing so. The NLRB also acts to prevent and remedy unfair labor practices committed by private sector employers and unions, as well as conducts secret-ballot elections regarding union representation.

The NLRB’s Student Ambassador Program (SAP) is an initiative for high school students who are interested in learning more about the NLRB and the workplace rights the NLRB enforces. NLRB investigators and attorneys use scenarios and a mock case to teach Student Ambassadors about federal labor law, investigation procedures, and how to make legal arguments. Student Ambassadors will then create a project to teach others.

How can you enroll in the SAP? If you are an individual high school student enrolled in a U.S. high school, please apply by April 7, 2025, by clicking on the form below. After submitting the below form, please send your resume or any additional documents you would like us to consider to sap@nlrb.gov. Any questions should be directed to sap@nlrb.gov

If you are a U.S. high school or a community organization with a program for high school students interested in creating a Student Ambassador Program, please contact the NLRB at sap@nlrb.gov. A representative of the NLRB will respond in a timely manner.
