Federal Employee and Applicant EEO Policies

Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO)

The National Labor Relations Board is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for appointment without regard to race, color, national origin, religion, sex (including pregnancy, gender identity, and sexual orientation), age, disability, genetic information, political affiliations, or any other non-merit factor. Federal sector regulations under 29 CFR Part 1614 prohibiting discrimination in the workplace for both applicants and current Agency employees are implemented through the NLRB’s Office of Equal Employment Opportunity (OEEO), whose contact information is provided below. Below are the applicable Agency policies:

EEO Complaint Process

If you are an employee, former employee, or an applicant for employment with the United States National Labor Relations Board (Agency) and believe you have been discriminated against because of your race, color, national origin, religion, sex (including pregnancy discrimination, gender expression/identity and sexual orientation), age (over 40), mental/physical disability, genetic information or reprisal for prior EEO complaint activity, you should contact an NLRB EEO Counselor through the NLRB Office of Equal Employment Opportunity (OEEO) within 45 calendar days of the date the incident occurred.

The Counselor has 30 calendar days to complete an informal resolution of the matter.  The 30-day period for EEO counseling may be extended up to an additional 60 calendar days if you agree in writing to such an extension.  As an alternative to EEO counseling, you may use the Agency's Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Program.  If you agree to participate in the ADR Program, the informal complaint process may be extended up to 90 calendar days.  If your complaint is not resolved at the informal stage, you have the right to file a formal complaint within 15 days after the final interview and the Notice of Right to File is received.  The formal complaint must be in writing, signed, and dated. If your complaint is accepted, it will be investigated.

Pursuant to 29 CFR §1614.108 the Agency is obligated to investigate your complaint in a timely manner. Complaints of employment discrimination are governed by federal sector EEO regulations at 29 CFR Part 1614.
