Regional Director

Welcome to Region 12 of the National Labor Relations Board. We conduct elections, investigate charges, and protect the rights of workers to act together, serving the state of Florida, southern Georgia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands from our main office in Tampa, subregional office in San Juan, and resident office in Miami. If you have questions or wish to file a charge or petition for an election, please visit one of our offices or call and ask for the Information Officer on duty. We can arrange to have someone speak with you in the language of your choice. We are also happy to provide speakers and materials to promote a greater understanding of the National Labor Relations Act.

Celebramos elecciones, investigamos cargos de prácticas ilícitas y protegemos los derechos de los trabajadores de actuar en común acuerdo para organizarse. Desde nuestra oficina principal en Tampa, nuestra oficina subregional de San Juan, y nuestra oficina residencial (“Resident Office”) en Miami servimos al estado de Florida, el sur del estado de Georgia, Puerto Rico, y las Islas Vírgenes.      On April 9, 2014, the Florida Bar Labor & Employment Law Section invites you to:  The National Labor Relations Board - The Florida Footprint.  Guest presenters will be Margaret Diaz, Regional Director, Region 12 and Pamela Scott, Miami Resident Officer.

     The event will take place at Stearns Weaver Miller Weissler Alhadeff & Sitterson, P.A., located at 150 West Flagler Street, Suite 2200 - Museum Tower, Miami, FL, starting at 5:00 p.m.

     The Dade County Bar Association Labor & Employment Committee announces Recent Developments at the NLRB - Effects on Union and Non-Union Employers and Employees on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at the Banker's Club, One Biscayne Tower, 2 South Biscayne Blvd., 14th Floor, Miami, Florida.

     The Moderator will be Kevin E. Vance from Duane Morris, LLP.  The Speakers will be Marinelly Maldonado, from the NLRB's Region 12 Miami Resident Office, Noah Warman, from Sugarman & Susskind; and William Radford, from Ogletree Deakins.

On March 4, 2014, Regional Director Margaret J. Diaz will be attending a luncheon hosted by The Association of Labor Relations Practitioners at Antonio's Restaurant in San Juan, Puerto Rico.  Regional Director Diaz will discuss the consolidation of former Region 24 into Region 12, her priorities as Regional Director, and new developments.

This past December, the staff of the Miami Resident Office collected Toys for Tots.  In this picture, from left to right, legal intern Erik Willman, Senior Field Attorney Karen Thornton, Senior Field Attorney John King, Resident Officer Pam Scott, Office Assistant Ed Ramos, and Coop Intern Alissa Hazy.  We thank Alissa and Karen for coordinating this event.

NLRB Regional Director Margaret J. Diaz today approved the resolution of all pending litigation in a long-running dispute between the Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, Inc. in West Palm Beach, FL, and the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, AFL-CIO, Local 500.

The resolution provides for approximately $2.2 million in backpay to 248 employees who were unlawfully denied employment over more than a decade. The money is to be paid in two installments, the first of which is due by January 15, 2013 and the second of which is due by January 15, 2014.
