Welcome to Region 31 of the National Labor Relations Board. We conduct elections, investigate charges of unfair labor practices, and protect the rights of workers to act together, serving parts of California from our office in west Los Angeles. If you have questions or wish to file a charge or petition for election, please visit our office or call and ask for the Information Officer on duty. We can arrange to have someone speak with you in the language of your choice. We are also happy to provide speakers and materials to promote a greater understanding of the National Labor Relations Act.

News From the Region

A U.S. District Court judge has ordered Jason Lopez’s Planet Earth, a landscaping company based in Nipomo, California, to offer interim reinstatement to two employees who were laid-off after seeking to organize a union, filing complaints, and offering testimony to the National Labor Relations Board.

On November 14, 2011, United District Court Judge R. Gary Klausner issued an order granting a temporary injunction in McDermott v. Jason Lopez's Planet Earth, Civil case No.

The National Labor Relations Board has unanimously found that the publisher of the Santa Barbara News-Press committed multiple unfair labor practices during a union organizing campaign by newsroom employees, and ordered Ampersand Publishing LLC to offer reinstatement to eight fired journalists, among other remedies.
