Office Information

Regional Director

Welcome to Region 13 of the National Labor Relations Board. We conduct elections, investigate charges of unfair labor practices, and protect the rights of workers to act together, serving parts of Illinois and Indiana from our office in downtown Chicago. If you have questions or wish to file a charge or petition for election, please visit our office or call and ask for the Information Officer on duty. We can arrange to have someone speak with you in the language of your choice. We are also happy to provide speakers and materials to promote a greater understanding of the National Labor Relations Act.

Check out the NLRB Region 13 Facebook page for the latest information on complaints, as well as ALJ and Regional Director decisions, from cases in the Chicago Regional Office.

News From the Region

Since the enactment of the National Labor Relations Act, the Decisions and Orders of the National Labor Relations Board have been published in bound volumes. The Agency’s Region 13 office in Chicago, Illinois will be moving to a smaller location in February. Following this move, the Agency will retain only a limited number of complete sets of the Board Decisions and Orders.

Chicago, IL— Former Republic Windows and Doors employees will receive long overdue backpay of $295,000 after a motion from the NLRB’s Region 13 in Chicago was granted by the Bankruptcy Court of the Northern District of Illinois.  In a June 2011 decision, the Board found that the employer violated the National Labor Relations Act when they closed their Goose Island facility and moved operations to an alter ego operation in Iowa.

On Tuesday April 7, 2015, Region 13 Regional Director Peter Sung Ohr and Assistant Regional Director Daniel Nelson explained the new representation case rules scheduled for implementation on April 14, 2015.

The National Labor Relations Board racked up yet another victory against Latino Express Inc., a Chicago-area bus company whose employees voted in early 2011 to be represented by Teamsters Local 777.  The initial ULP charges were filed in early 2011 by two fired drivers and Teamsters Local 777 at the NLRB Regional Office in Chicago.  The Region investigated the charges and in March 2011 issued a consolidated complaint alleging numerous violations by Latino Express.
