Remembering Richard A. Siegel, Former Associate General Counsel in Division of Operations-Management

Former Associate General Counsel Richard A. Siegel died on June 4, 2013.  The memorial service was held on June 5.

Mr. Siegel was born and raised in Chicago and was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan.   He was a graduate of the University of Illinois and the Georgetown University Law Center.

Mr. Siegel’s long and distinguished career with the NLRB began in 1974 when he joined the Division of Advice in Washington headquarters.  Thereafter, he transferred to the Philadelphia Regional Office serving first as a trial attorney and then as a supervisor.  He returned to headquarters where he moved to progressively more responsible positions in both the Division of Advice and the Division of Operations-Management.  In 1996 he was appointed to be the head of Operations-Management as its Associate General Counsel.  He remained in that position until his retirement. During his tenure as Associate General Counsel, he received the prestigious Presidential Rank Award.

Mr. Siegel retired in August 2011 and looked forward to spending more time with his family.  Shortly after his retirement, he was diagnosed with lung cancer and he died after a prolonged illness.  He is survived by his wife, Doreen and his children and their spouses,  Jonas (Sara), Aaron (Zoe), Shira (Daniel), Rachel (Jason), and three stepsons, Jason, Scott (Eileen) and Kevin (Lisa) Snider and eight beautiful grandchildren.
