Texas New Mexico PowerCompany, LLC and PNM Resources, Inc. Settle in NLRB Case, Will Pay Four Former Employees Nearly $170,000

Four employees of Texas New Mexico Power Company, LLC and PNM Resources, Inc., will receive a total of about $170,000 following a settlement in the case.

Lyondell Chemical employees vote against union representation

Employees of Lyondell Chemical Company and Equistar Chemical, L.P. decided in an election conducted by the National Labor Relations Board against represention by the United Steel, Paper and Forestry, Rubber, Manufacturing, Energy, Allied Industrial and Service Workers, International Union, AFL-CIO-CLC for purposes of collective bargaining. 

State Bar of Texas Office of Minority Affairs - 22nd Annual Texas Minority Counsel Program

On Thursday, September 4, 2014, Regional Director Martha Kinard will serve as a panelist at the State Bar of Texas Office of Minority Affairs—22nd Annual Texas Minority Counsel Program, in Austin, Texas.  Kinard’s presentation will include a discussion of NLRB General Counsel initiatives and the National Labor Relations Act in the non-union workplace.

South Texas College of Law: 27th Annual Employment Law Conference

On Thursday, July 17, 2014, at the South Texas College of Law:  27th Annual Employment Law Conference in Houston Texas, Chairman Mark Pearce will make a presentation about recent developments at the NLRB.   A reception honoring Chairman Pearce will follow his presentation.  On Friday, July 18, 2014, Regional Director Martha Kinard will join Chairman Pearce in a breakfast roundtable discussion about the NLRB.

Tarrant County Labor & Employment Law Section Luncheon

On Tuesday, June 24, 2014, Regional Director Martha Kinard will serve as a panelist at the Tarrant County Labor & Employment Law Section Luncheon in Fort Worth, Texas.  Kinard will address hot topics, including social media cases and she will provide an update on other recent developments at the NLRB.

Fort Worth Flight Simulator Employees receive nearly $105,000 in back pay

Three employees of LB&B Associates, Inc., Dae Sung LLC, and FTSS Joint Venture (the Employer), who provide flight simulator services at the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base in Fort Worth, TX, will receive nearly $105,000 in backpay pursuant to a NLRB settlement.    

Valero Services agrees to rescind its nationwide social media policy

On April 7, 2014, Valero Services, Inc. agreed to rescind its nationwide social media policy and to post and mail a NLRB remedial notice to its employees throughout the country in response to a complaint filed by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).  Valero Services provides employee leasing services to refineries and plants located throughout the United States, including a refinery located in Port Arthur, Texas.

Keck Hospital of USC agrees to pay $87,939 to employees as a result of unlawful unilateral changes

On March 19, 2014, Keck Hospital of USC, formerly known as USC University Hospital (Employer), agreed to fully remedy the employees affected by its unilateral elimination of an extra shift bonus and a mandatory on-call schedule.
