NLRB Attorney David Casserly, who works in the office of Board Member Phillip A. Miscimarra, was honored by the Employment Justice Center in Washington, D.C., (www.dcejc.org) as its Intake Volunteer of the Year at the organization’s annual awards breakfast on September 24, 2013.
The Employment Justice Center organizes a weekly workers’ rights clinic at Bread for the City’s Northwest location, and a monthly clinic at Bread for the City’s Southeast location in the nation’s capital. Volunteer intake workers and attorneys provide legal advice on employment issues to walk-in low-income workers, including both newcomers and many returning clients. Casserly volunteers as an intake worker with the EJC every Wednesday night.
“Dave is one our remarkable young lawyers who volunteers on his own time to help those most in need in our community,” said NLRB Chairman Mark Gaston Pearce. Board Member Miscimarra added: “We are extremely proud of Dave’s important work with employees in the DC area, which is in addition to his public service at the NLRB.”
