New Union Organizer Training at IBEW Local 212

Event Date:
05/25/2011 - 3:20pm

On May 25 and 26, 2011, 3 of our agents, Anne Poppe, Jon Grove and Elisabeth Macaroni conducted a 2-day training session for about 30 new organizers at IBEW Local 212.  On the first day, Jon started with a history of the Labor Board and the Act.  Anne then showed them the Agency's website and how to find various resources and how to research an issue and where to find the various manuals and what information they could get from the manuals.  Liz then began covering the R case processes from filing the petition to the hearing or election agreement to election, stressing time guidelines.  They conducted a mock election.  They also discussed post election proceedings and what would be expected from an objecting party both before and during a hearing.  They went over the types of conduct that could constitute unfair labor practices or objections.  Anne explained the process of an unfair labor practice proceeding, what type of evidence they would be expected to provide during an investigation.  They also discussed the deferral procedure.  The next day, they showed the participants the Agency’s mock pre-election hearing video and then held a discussion on the pre-election hearing.
