Meeting of Vice-President-level Human Resources Directors - Birmingham, Alabama
On May 26, Resident Officer Douglas Marshall addressed the yearly meeting of Vice-President-level Human Resource Directors of several major non-union LTL trucking companies in Birmingham, Alabama. The meeting was hosted by lawyers from Constangy Brooks & Smith, a labor and employment firm. Participants submitted questions to Marshall several days in advance of the conference, with subjects including social media complaints; the Boeing complaint; the voting status of eligibility of independent contractor/owner operators; the AT&T/CWA case in Connecticut in which the employer banned employees from wearing ‘prisoner shirts’ when calling on customers; and case developments concerning wearing union buttons on uniforms when delivering goods to customers. Marshall’s responses to these wide-ranging issues elicited much discussion and interest.
