LAUSD Collective-Bargaining Education Project

Event Date:
10/19/2011 - 8:30am

Region 21 has once again been invited to participate in the Los Angeles Unified School District's  Collective-Bargaining Education Project. The award-winning social studies program targets Los Angeles high school students in a one day collective-bargaining workshop. Students interact in small labor and management teams to bargain a contract on issues that include wages, medical insurance, childcare, discrimination and affirmative action. Students are coached by professionals who volunteer from the fields of labor and management.

This year, Field Attorney Isael Hermosillo will serve as a coach. Apart from guiding students through the mock collective-bargaining session, Mr. Hermosillo will provide students with an overview of the mission of the Agency and their rights under the National Labor Relations Act.
