Georgia Labor Management Conference in Saint Simons, Georgia
On June 15, at the 2011 Georgia Labor Management Conference in Saint Simons, Georgia, Supervisory Attorney Lisa Y. Henderson led two one-hour workshops on developments in labor law, focusing on the Agency’s recent social media cases and the Boeing matter being heard by an administrative law judge in Seattle that very day. Both issues, but the “Facebook cases” in particular, generated strong responses from the hundred or so participants, with questions ranging from “What is protected concerted activity?” to pointed hypotheticals derived from real workplace situations. The Conference, in its 22nd year, is hosted by the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service and the Labor and Employment Relations Association and is sponsored and supported by Georgia employers, labor organizations, education and government entities seeking to foster greater cooperation and mutual respect between management and labor. Region 10 is a long-time participant in the Conference, and its workshops are always popular and well-received.
