29th Annual OCLERA Conference

 

On July 13, 2011, Regions 21 and 31cosponsored the 29th Annual Labor and Employment Law Conference in Anaheim, California, in conjunction with the Orange County Chapter of the Labor and Employment Relations Association (OC LERA) and the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS). A diverse audience of almost 200 labor and management attorneys, union representatives, human resources managers, government officials, academics and neutrals from throughout Southern California attended, as well as many employees of Regions 21 and 31, including Region 21 RA William Pate and Region 31 RD James McDermott. FA  Ami Silverman(Region 21), past OC LERA President and Vice-Chair of the conference, was assisted by Planning Committee members SFX Tirza Castellanos (Region 21), Retired RA Margaret Hume (Region 31), and SFA Anne White (Region 31). The day-long program included a plenary session on Social Media in the Workplace, and FA Alice J. Garfield (Region 21) moderated the ever-popular panel on recent developments at the NLRB featuring former NLRB GC Ronald Meisburg. Also, Retired Region 21 RD Victoria Aguayo led a lively discussion on voluntary recognition and neutrality agreements.
